End of Direct Revenue - Out of Business

Posted in Security by wayne.porter on October 24th, 2007

Few things can bring me out of torpor or rest and recuperation. I am not even supposed to touch malware according to my doc. OK this can…

Some may recall the so-called value-add of Aurora and Nail.exe(aptly named)…I do and quite well. It was a scourge released by Direct Revenue. It appears the house of cards has collapsed and word on the street is that Direct Revenue is out of Business- and the uninstall instructions on the web site seem to confirm that. Back in 2005 ZDNET hailed them as one of the top ten tricks causing the spyware epidemic…it was frequently a topic of discussion on my blog at Revenews as a shining example of worst practices.

Reports are are just starting to filter in from security and affiliate activists…not to mention a start of twitter postsPownce and message boards.

I am sure there is more to come as people dissect this mess…now if we could have more happy endings.
