HiPihi -ay Frenzoo from Skype founders Enters the “Second Life”

Ambient Sound Investments, made up of the Skype core four lopped in a Series A funding round in 3D social networking company Frenzoo.

Frenzoo is in private beta (taps foot…) but the similiarities to Second Life ala Asian style cannot be missed. Creation of virtual 3D characters (Avatars), branded clothes, footwear, accessories, furniture and lifestyle items. I wonder if they have weapons though? No social networking experience is complete without offensive and defensive fun. Perhaps to the chagrin of Enterprises on these networks as reports are trickling back to me about Nigerian phishing scams in Second Life, incredible offensive weaponry despite locking down grids, (Tried one- and knocked one friend’s mech three thousand yards into a private reef.) and the ever growing threat of listening devices, avatar scanners, and omnipresent social engineering- which is even easier given 3D worlds to augment the engineers ability.

The web’s worst goes 3D! From social interaction to avatar firepower…bank on it.

It is notable Frenzoo will compete with HiPihi, another well funded Second Life from China institutional angel investor GCIC. Shanda also announced that it will be launching a Chinese Second Life clone. But the action heats up yet again as another Chinese virtual community game developer, UOneNet Technology, finished its second round of funding too.

Are these worlds for “real”. Once again, given that reality is merely what you and I agree upon at any given moment in time- the question is relative and somewhat moot. Is money real?

Will they meet mass adoption and become the next groundwork for interaction? I think so. Sony rumors swirl around little old Club Penguin…it’s all avatar in the future…the big question is will EULAs rule or the law of the “real land”. I find that more interesting.
